An article about world human resources development in Thailand
I have been working for about 5 years at human resources development department in Japan.And I have an interest for human resources development (About business people’s growth) in the world.
The interviewee is Mr.N, who I met at the UC Berkeley Extension, and he is one of my best friends in the world. He is an entrepreneur, runs a company called Build A Box, which is a design and packaging company in Bangkok. He is almost same age compared with me, but already hires 8 people, so I really respect him.
In the interview time, I have asked these questions below and he has answered all questions.
- Would you tell me about your country’s national character?
People puts special emphasis on living life comfortably so they sometimes don’t work hard.
- Would you tell me excellent business person’s features in your country?
I think excellent business person’s features are common all over the world.
Positive thinking, Open mind, Well-educated (like studying), has connection (know who).
- How do business people learn in your country?
Business people take executive courses at university (ex; Master degree of Marketing)
or financial courses organized by Bank.

- What kind of educational program do company offer?
Usually company doesn’t offer educational program. However, big company sometimes offers executive programs written above. Mr.N’s BUILD A BOX allow people take seminars.
5. Especially, what kind of educational program do company offer for new employee?
Usually company doesn’t offer educational programs, but offer internal training about
companies’ basic information.
- Would you tell me educational trend or learning trend in your country?
Digital marketing (facebook marketing, online application, etc)
From these Q&A, I found that Thai company don’t offer many educational program but Thai business people often go to executive school or financial school to get instructive knowledge. Japanese business people can learn something from this situation….
